Act II Film Lab
Presented in Partnership with 22nd & Story
The Act II Film Lab is a development and production pathway designed to support emerging and second-career filmmakers who are building work outside of traditional industry pipelines. The Lab centers filmmakers who bring lived experience, cultural perspective, and untapped creative vision to their storytelling.
Through structured development support and access to real production infrastructure, participants work toward short films or proof-of-concept projects that are positioned for execution. In partnership with 22nd & Story, the Lab emphasizes practical production readiness, creative ownership, and intentional storytelling—bridging the gap between idea and opportunity.
The Act II Film Lab reflects Production in Black’s commitment to building sustainable pathways in film by connecting access, resources, and production expertise for storytellers who deserve to be supported at the point of creation.
Program details and timelines will be announced.
The Second Act Film Lab

Through access to real production infrastructure, participants develop short films or proof-of-concept projects with an emphasis on creative ownership and production readiness.

GreenLit Micro-Grant Fund
Powered by Black Women in Production
The GreenLit Fund provides early-stage funding for film projects led by Black women creators. Designed to remove barriers to access, the fund supports culturally resonant work at critical moments in development, pre-production, and production—helping creators move from idea to execution with greater clarity, resources, and momentum.
Our focus is on projects with strong vision and intentional storytelling, whether that support looks like seed funding for key materials, production needs, location costs, post-production support, or essential crew resources. In addition to funding, select recipients may also receive light-touch guidance and practical tools that strengthen readiness (planning templates, budget support, or production check-ins), depending on each cycle’s structure.
Grant cycles will be announced, along with eligibility, application guidelines, and award amounts.
