Make  room on and off screen

We Made Room

We Made Room is a restorative experience for Black women in film, media, and production to rest, reconnect, create, and be poured back into.

Rooted in storytelling, wellness, and intentional community, We Made Room was created to make space for the women who are often carrying the weight of the work. Through shared experiences, creative renewal, and meaningful conversation, participants are reminded that they matter, their stories matter, and their presence deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated in an industry where barriers still exist.

WE Made Room

We Made Room is a retreat experience created for Black women in film, media, and production to rest, reconnect, create, and be poured back into. Rooted in community, storytelling, wellness, and intentional conversation, the experience centers the women who are constantly making space for others and reminds them to make room for themselves too.

Born from the belief that Black women have always created opportunity where none existed, We Made Room blends culture, creativity, restoration, and honest dialogue into an immersive experience designed to inspire both personal reflection and collective connection. Through wellness experiences, creative sessions, workshops, meaningful conversations, and opportunities for creative funding and support, the retreat explores what it means to reclaim space, protect peace, and build legacy in community with one another.

Hosted by Black Women in Production, We Made Room exists as a restorative gathering space rooted in softness, healing, creativity, and connection, where Black women in film and media can rest, be seen, exchange ideas, and return to their work restored.

GreenLit Fund

The GreenLit Fund provides early-stage funding for film projects led by Black women creators. Designed to remove barriers to access, the fund supports culturally resonant work at critical moments in development, pre-production, and production—helping creators move from idea to execution with greater clarity, resources, and momentum.

Our focus is on projects with strong vision and intentional storytelling, whether that support looks like seed funding for key materials, production needs, location costs, post-production support, or essential crew resources. In addition to funding, select recipients may also receive light-touch guidance and practical tools that strengthen readiness (planning templates, budget support, or production check-ins), depending on each cycle’s structure.

Grant cycles will be announced, along with eligibility, application guidelines, and award amounts.

GreenLit Fund

The GreenLit Fund is an initiative by Black Women in Production created to support emerging and second career creatives during the production phase of their projects. Rooted in access, opportunity, and creative sustainability, the fund provides financial and production centered support for Black women working across film, media, and storytelling.

Designed to help bridge the gap between vision and execution, the GreenLit Fund exists to support creatives actively bringing their projects to life while encouraging collaboration, creative growth, and long term sustainability within the industry.
