“Bold stories. Second chances. Black women leading the lens.”

Black Women in Production (BWIP) is a Black women led 501c3 nonprofit organization creating space for Black women in film, media, and production to rest, reconnect, create, and be supported in community.

Rooted in storytelling, wellness, and cultural impact, BWIP exists to pour back into the women behind the work through restorative experiences, creative initiatives, and opportunities that support growth both personally and professionally. Our work centers Black women navigating the entertainment and production industries while encouraging visibility, creative ownership, and long term fulfillment in spaces where support and access have often been limited.

Founded from the belief that Black women have consistently created opportunity in industries that have historically overlooked them, BWIP is committed to building environments where community, creativity, and restoration can exist alongside ambition and artistic growth. Through gatherings, funding opportunities, and media centered experiences, BWIP creates intentional spaces for Black women in film and media to connect, create, and be poured back into.

BWIP is also home to initiatives such as We Made Room, a restorative experience rooted in storytelling, wellness, and intentional community, as well as the GreenLit Fund, an initiative supporting creatives through funding and production centered opportunities.

At its core, BWIP believes storytelling is more than creative expression. It is a tool for visibility, ownership, and change. We are committed to supporting Black women not only as participants within the industry, but as creators, collaborators, and leaders helping shape the future of film, media, and production.

Visibility. Community. Restoration.
