Why The Work Matters:
Access to film and media production is often shaped by who has opportunity, exposure, and support. For many Black women, those pathways remain limited or inconsistent, making it difficult to gain experience, build networks, and sustain long-term careers in the industry.
Black Women in Production Inc. exists to address these gaps by creating space for development, visibility, and real-world experience. Through mentorship, skill-building, and hands-on production opportunities, we support emerging and second-career storytellers as they navigate entry into the industry.
As part of this work, storytelling initiatives like Production in Black highlight the lived experiences of Black women in film—bringing visibility to the challenges, opportunities, and realities of working behind the scenes. These projects serve as a tool for awareness, connection, and access, helping to expand understanding while opening doors for those coming behind them.
This work is about more than participation. It is about building pathways, strengthening representation, and ensuring Black women are not only present in the industry, but positioned to lead within it.
