Black Women in Production (BWIP) is a Black women-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization creating pathways for Black women pursuing, entering, and sustaining careers in film production through community, access, opportunity, and funding.

Founded on the belief that Black women have long created opportunities in an industry that has not always created opportunities for them, BWIP exists to increase visibility, expand access, and invest in the women shaping stories behind the scenes and beyond the lens.

BWIP creates opportunities for Black women to build meaningful careers in film production through programming, industry engagement, funding opportunities, and intentional experiences that support professional growth. By fostering connection, increasing visibility, and expanding access to resources, BWIP works to strengthen the pipeline of Black women working throughout the industry.

BWIP is home to We Made Room, a collective and annual summit designed to support Black women building careers in film production through connection, visibility, and shared experiences, and the GreenLit Fund, a funding program created to invest in creative projects and expand industry opportunities for Black women working throughout the film production industry.

At its core, BWIP believes storytelling is a tool for visibility, ownership, and change. We are committed to supporting Black women not only as participants within the industry, but as creators, collaborators, and leaders helping shape its future.

By creating spaces where Black women can connect, grow, and be seen, BWIP is working to ensure that more women have the resources, relationships, and opportunities needed to thrive both on set and beyond.
